ScamHunter is a Swiss service that investigates online fraud — investment scams, romance scams, impersonation — traces the financial and digital trail, and prepares a documented file the victim can take to their lawyer or the police. I built and run the product surface: the positioning, the bilingual site, the case intake and the feasibility triage that decides which cases are taken. The investigative and legal work is done by the ScamHunter team.
The product as a system
- Victim query
- Intake
- Feasibility call
- Investigation (team)
- Documented file
The problem and the hard part
- The problem
- Someone who has just been defrauded online does not know who to turn to, and the market around them is full of operators promising to recover the money.
- The hard part
- Writing intake for people in a bad moment: the surface has to state plainly what cannot be promised — no guaranteed recovery — and still collect enough for the team to judge whether a case is workable.
What shipped
- A bilingual (FR/EN) acquisition surface for a category where most competitors overpromise — “legal, confidential, no guaranteed result” is stated above the fold, not in the small print
- Case intake that captures the elements needed for a feasibility call before a case is accepted, instead of a generic contact form
- A public method page — sources cited, hypotheses separated from facts, limits stated — so the offer can be assessed before contact
